Ideals reflect your character’s values in the game. They can be used to help you develop your character, but they shouldn’t constrain your character’s abilities. For example, they aren’t intended to cover every moral dilemma a character might encounter. They’re designed to be more of a toolbox, which allows you to fill in the details for each scenario according to the need.
In math, an ideal represents an element in the ring which contains all of the elements of a circle. It extends the notion of an even integer because the sum of two even integers is always an even integer and the product of any odd number with an even one also produces an even integer (as as its own integer). Ideals are the main idea behind the study of rings, and are the foundation of a lot of theories about rings.
The concept of a perfect society has always been a hot topic throughout history. A few examples of philosophers who have proposed ways to achieve such a society include Thomas More, a 16th-century reformation lawyer and Catholic saint, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr who was a prominent figure in the fight for civil rights.
Ideals may be historical, structural, or sociological. Historical ideal types are based on the actualities of various real-life phenomena, like the modern capitalist market. Sociological ideals, on the contrary, are based upon the causes and consequences of social actions observed throughout history. The traditional domination system is one these types of sociological ideals.
